This October, the Erode AI team headed to Pittsburgh for Clean Currents 2025, the National Hydropower Association’s national waterpower conference and tradeshow. It’s the biggest annual gathering for the hydropower industry in North America, bringing together utilities, developers, regulators, and vendors from across conventional hydro, pumped storage, and marine energy.
Conversations on the show floor kept circling back to hydropower’s role as wind and solar keep growing on the grid: hydro’s ability to ramp quickly and store energy makes it the flexible partner that intermittent renewables need. It was a great few days catching up with familiar faces in the industry and meeting new ones.
